It's Time
The time has arrived for me and I am ready to retire.
My practice here in Tehachapi, CA has been very successful over the years and now it's time for me to move on and allow another qualified doctor to benefit from the successes of the past. I have been practicing here for 32 years and have built a very nice practice with a great reputation. Just a few years ago we were averaging over 250 visits per week.
But things have changed for me in the last few years. I had a cycling accident and broke my left arm, injured shoulder, etc, couldn't practice for over 4 months which really put a dent in the flow of things. Then recently I crashed again and had to have right shoulder surgery, metal plate and all. Since then I have been limited in treating as I still have issues with the wrist and shoulder. In addition to that, I have had some family issues relating to aging parents that have required me to travel out of state quite a bit to help out. So my practice is much smaller than it used to be. The potential is still here, but I am tired and ready to retire near the family and our kids in another state.

The Town

This is a great family community situated in the mountains at 4,000 feet elevation, so we get nice weather with all four seasons with a little snow in the winter and comfortable summers. We are located about 35 miles east of Bakersfield at the southern end of the Sierras.
We have lots of recreation with nearby golfing, fishing, camping, hiking, glider flying, dirt biking, skiing, boating, and more. We have public and private schools, blue-collar employment as well as white-collar executives. All around, this is a great place to live with private gated communities nearby. (www.tehachapi.com)

The practice is currently seeing an average of 50-60 patients each week. We schedule patients during the week Monday, Wednesday and Friday all day as well as mornings on Tuesday and we are closed on Thursdays. Normally the hours are 9:00am until 6:00 pm and I take a 3 hour lunch from noon to 3 pm.
Most of the practice is family practice mixed with a little work comp, PI, etc. We take insurance and also have cash plans for patients. Our emphasis is corrective care with some rehab exercises to support the process. We have x-ray, subluxation station, decompression table and other more standard equipment to help in the process.
The office space is about 2,500 square feet. We have a couple of treatment rooms, a large rehab room, therapy bay, decompression room, exam room, x-ray room, consult/report room in addition to doctor's personal office, reception area, front desk area and billing office. The space can be reduced by a thousand feet if wanted. We started out smaller but expanded into the space next to us years ago due to the volume of patients we were seeing.
As far as the equipment goes, we have an equipment list we can provide if you are interested. It breaks down the whole office by room and lists all the equipment, furniture, computers and software in the office. Currently the resale value of everything is about $50,000.
